Tom Ballou has sent in these pictures of Union  infantry with head conversions. They are 79th New Yorkers with the Scots head on!  Thanks Tom

Notes on the new Peter Pig Figures.  As the new packs are introduced customers will notice some new words :
Forage Cap. This is the kepi style cap which has a flat top that falls forward. This is mainly used by Union troops.
Kepi. This is a tailored cap with a depressed centre/top.

Marching poses are suitable for the right shoulder arms. This is the pose adopted by the second rank during a charge/advance.

Each of the figures in range 2 is designed to reward painting as well as making painting easy.  In addition the figures are designed to be tough enough for most wargamers so that the figures will still be unbent after many years handling!

This range probably contains all the troops you will  need for fighting the battles of the ACW in 15mm.
Each pack has a variety of positions in it.

CWB Battle Report from the US

Battle Report by Dan Gurule and Matt Vigil     CWB - Cedar Run    Photography:  Dan Gurule  Figures and Table: Matt Vigil

Matt again put on another well laid out CWB scenario this last weekend. This time I (Dan) was the defending Union Force. Let me provide a high level battle report and post some pictures of the battle. I finally remembered my camera, see pictures posted at CWB – Cedar Run.

If you look at the scenario you will see that the Yanks have control of the 3 hills on one side of the battle. Two of those being Objectives. My Regular Brigade took their positions on the right covering the hill and Road. My mixed Raw and Regulars took the centre. With raw troops in the centre I attached some batteries to toughen them up if assaulted.

I can tell you right off, as the defender I was rolling horribly for the Battle Clock (the game lasts for 21 points. The defender deducts a D6 from this total each turn). One's and two's were the norm. On the 5th turn I was at 16 points with game ending at 18. Slow death. Needless to say his reinforcements were all coming on and they got close enough to assault my whole line. The only saving Grace I had for victory points was that I took my Two Cavalry stands and ran them up the Rebel right around the gun line they established. That was my Union Highlight.

Anyway let me give you some other highlights and I think the pictures will tell the story a little better then my narrative.

Turn 1 – The Reb attack begins all along the front. At the end of their turn with very high rolls (9+) ( reinforcement units roll 2D6 with modifiers to arrive) the reinforcements were coming on next turn already. The Yanks wait with guns ready.

Turn 2 – For the Rebs this could have made things very difficult. Winder rolled double One's for his move so he pretty much ended up far from his troops who were advancing smartly. (Generals move 2 D6 inches per turn before they start motivating) Of course I couldn't pass up some joking at this point, "leading from the rear" and all that. But if it wasn't for the determination dice from his Corp Commander the distance from his troops hindered his Brigade movement. (Determination dice are extra dice awarded to a Divisional commander by the corps commander to allow for re-rolls) Although, his lead Brigade made a good motivation roll and this turn was able to assault my troops at the road (it costs extra action points to carry out a falter test in order to assault). The assault was stopped during the Falter test, so again not much action.
During this turn the Yanks decided to advance the regulars in the center to relieve some pressure on the Yank Right. They were able to pour some fire into the flank of one of the center Reb Brigades.

Turn 3 – The Rebs continued the attack on the Yank right but were again repelled. The Rebs ran a column of their raw brigade through the trees (troops in a 1 base width column ignore any slowing effect of cover but are worse in morale and fighting) around the Yank right and started inching their way up the hill.
The only highlight for the Yanks was to rout one of the Reb center brigades but on the next turn they were also flanked and routed. Anything to slow them down but rolling the Battle Clock it seemed that we could only run off seconds. Damn..

Turn 4 – Rebel assault on Union right was overwhelmingly successful. The left was ready to fall with only a couple of damaged batteries (each gun model represents a battery) left. The final tally ended up in a +13 victory for the Rebels which was an uneventful victory.
At T6 rolling only a one we called the battle. The Union was defeated.

Great battle. In later turns rolling poorly on both sides for Action Points really slowed us down. The started at 0945 and ended at 1330. Could have went quicker without me being the battlefield reporter and taking pictures.

General notes: With the Rebels being on the attack and wanting to get into "Knife fights" the musket's were not an issue. My Union guns were blasting away at the Rebs which really helped slow them a little having to make Morale rolls and having to hold on failed rolls.

Yank Right in Trouble Yank bold move to flank Reb centre and getting flanked themselves Yank assaulted and routed the centre Reb Brigade only high point
View over the Wheat Fields from Yank centre Union right falling Union Raw brigade stood firm
Union left ready to fall Turn 1 - Setup T2 Yanks moving a battery to left
T2 Rebel right reinforcements arriving early T1 Rebel left assault T1 Rebel center moving to the front
routed Reb brigade fleeing through the trees Rebels pressing the attack Reb reinforcements breaking down fences to get at us
Raw troops taking fire Pretty much over Matt "Johnny Reb"
Last stand on left Here they come Dan "Damn Yank"
Casualties everywhere Yankee Right being assaulted
