Another counterfeiter stealing from the wargames industry ...........
Can you help us to identify any of the models in the photograph below please ?

They were bought from Kevin Hinton in Burton Latimer. He trades as led.zepplin.58 and creptinthecryptcrappedandcreptbackoutagain on Ebay.
We have visited Mr. Hinton's home address but the man who answered the door, with Mr. Hinton's dogs, was, apparently, not Mr. Hinton so we were not able to discuss the items with him
Mr. Hinton has failed to respond to the cease and desist letter we were legally obliged to deliver.We are in talks with Trading Standards and the Police.
We do not have the time to investigate all of the items.
We know that some are PP items but if anyone could notify any other companies involved that would be appreciated.

Open mouths? yes or no

 

Rules

Gamers often ask why Peter pig figures have open mouths. In fact, some not very bright individuals, have even questioned whether men would have open mouths whilst in combat! Well, here are some  reasons you might consider or even disagree with
  • when under exertion soldiers open their mouths to draw in extra breath (try running a mile carrying a LOT of kit whilst keeping your mouth closed) or watch olympic runners in the last lap.
  • when loud pressure waves are put upon the ear due to bangs and explosions an open mouth helps reduce ear pressure (sweets are often sucked when the plane comes in to land to help alleviate the effect of pressure change in the cabin.
  • when in combat, men will often shout to communicate, bolster their own courage or intimidate the enemy (consider the rebel yell and Zulu war cries).
  • NCOs will often spend a lot of time communicating via shouting. Consider accounts of WW2 NCOs getting their men moving whilst in combat.

As an aside one could look at the paintings of Don Troiani featuring  soldiers in combat , whom seems much better informed than the pompous "soldiers fight with closed mouths"  types.

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. The team are presently working on a new version of square bashing.  Fifty percent done.

A proposed alternative fight sheet is being prepared that will use fewer dice and include some other ideas. I must stress that this is an alternative rather than a replacement.

Monocacy Scenario in CWB

Dan has had some thoughts on the scenario and suggested modifications/improvements.

Cavalry now out.  8 new packs with three more planned. These are one piece castings designed to make painting easier, the figures tougher and the poises more integral.. Click here
 I am already adjusting the scenario in CWB to start at the 1530 push into Thomas House with the climax at the Georgetown Pike.  I am only going to use Gordon's Division with assaults from Evans, York and Terry against Rickett and Wallace falling back from the house to the Pike which will provide them some defensive cover. Just not sure that as you have it now under Gordon 5A, 3A and 4V is enough to historically push the Ricketts 7a, 7a and Wallace's 5r, and 3a.  I will try it that way to see what happens.  I am leaving the Rebs Ramseur's infantry out except for the battery which was shelling the Union right flank from across the river.    AWI

Latest packs are British grenadier command (standard) and command for the battalion. The latter pack can be used for line battalions too.
